The inducible costimulatory factor (inducible co-stimulator, ICOS), also known as CD278, was identified in 1999. It is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is the receptor of B7-H2 (CD275) molecules in the B7 family, which is expressed on the surface of activated T cells, and B7-H2 binds to ICOS to mediate the costimulatory signal of T cells, thus causing hyperplasia of T cells.
