Interleukin-17A (IL17A) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine secreted by activated T lymphocytes. It is a powerful inducer of CD34-positive hematopoietic precursor maturation into neutrophils. The transmembrane protein encoded by this gene (interleukin 17A receptor; IL17RA) is a commonly present type I membrane glycoprotein with low affinity for binding to interleukin 17A, and the receptor may have a multimeric structure. Its related pathways include severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 infection and the IL-17 family signaling pathway, and an important homolog of this gene is IL17RD.
