IL4R (interleukin-4 receptor) is the alpha chain that encodes the interleukin-4 receptor, a type I transmembrane protein that can bind to interleukin-4 and interleukin-13 to regulate IgE production. The encoded protein can also bind to interleukin-4 to promote the differentiation of Th2 cells. The soluble form of the encoded protein can be produced through protein hydrolysis of membrane-bound proteins, which can inhibit T cell-mediated IL4 mediated cell proliferation and IL5 upregulation. Its related pathways include TGF - β pathway and Akt signaling pathway, and an important homolog of this gene is CSF2RB.
